JOB SCOPE AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: In line with the EssilorLuxottica strategy, the Med tech and Medical area takes on an increasingly relevant and interconnected importance within the Professional Community and internal stakeholders to support the vision care categories development and business growth. The Medical and Professional Affairs Director will be responsible for leading the Medical and Professional affairs strategy for Myopia, Presbyopia, Light Management, Clinical Optometry categories/Instruments, as well as eyewear solutions and their related products and services, in order to contribute to the commercial success of our brands, products and latest innovations. S/he will act as a subject matter expert in the eye health and vision care & eye care management concepts and evidence-based data of the medical area, and support EssilorLuxotica to develop and execute medical and professional strategy focusing on product’s scientific data dissemination, share of voice; independent expert engagement and development; provide business and marketing and essential inputs for go to market strategies. The role is cross-functional; reporting directly to Head of Professional Solutions DACH and operates jointly with Marketing, Sales, Countries’ Marketing Communications, Leonardo and Legal teams as well as with the Global Medical and Professional Affairs team. The Medical Affairs Director will closely work with the Global Head of Medical Affairs to align on the strategy. You will be the driving force behind the structure of the medical division of EssilorLuxottica in Germany at the same time with a croissant focus of the group part. Your first objective will be the notoriety, relevance and impact on the prescriptions of EssilorLuxottica ophthalmic lenses: Stellest, Varilux, Transitions etc.. The main objectives are: Accelerate the impact by guiding the structure and execution of the Medical and Professional Affairs Plan the strategy and design - communication activities are equally favourable to the effective integration of medical activities into the largest business marketing plan for our brand and lens product categories. Implement the strategy for an effective Stellest deployment program: from prescription to dispensing. Medical relations : you will represent the Professional Face of EssilorLuxottica DACH and will personally maintain medical and professional relations with the key external experts, such as Academia, Ophthalmologists and Professional Associations you will support the Medical team in identifying, building and maintaining relationships with external experts and with the community of ophthalmologists, orthoptists and paediatricians. Professional Events and Congresses: in alignment with Global Medical and Professional Affairs, your team you will define the priorities and contents for EssilorLuxottica's participation in Professional and Medical Congresses at a national and local level with the Professional Business Manager you will define the plan for optical and ophthalmology events on the national territory. Medical Education: in alignment with Global Medical and Professional Affairs, you will actively develop medical education and training content and programs for internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on Ophthalmologists and Medical Community, as well as Optometrists. Materials and Assets you and your team will provide subject matter expertise and coordination for the localization of all medical packs prepared by our Medical corporate team, ensuring compliance with the legal context and alignment with practice in our country. you will be responsible for identifying the reference ophthalmologists or any other external expert to obtain validation and endorsement you will manage internal and external communication, organizing communication activities on 3 levels: o PR communication plan (organic and paid) dedicated to the medical channel, o medical activities amplification plan for the optical channel o plan to expand medical activities within the branch. Results traking you will build an effective tracking system and proactively propose corrective ideas and/or actions if necessary. Compliance you will ensure compliance with the laws, regulations and guidelines applicable in DACH relating to activities related to medical affairs, with the support of our internal or external legal consultants. you will be the gate keeper of the alignment of our medical activity and our medical assets with the practices of the DACH medical and scientific community. Scientific watch you will monitor and analyze trends and clinical-scientific developments to ensure that the company's products and services are in line with the best practices of the Italian medical community and will encourage the constant updating of your team you will attend medical and professional conferences and other industry events to maintain awareness. you will monitor developments in the use of new digital technologies in areas related to Medical and Professional Affairs by sharing information and actively proposing new ways that allow us to increase reach towards our medical stakeholders. you will monitor the medical activity of the industry and our direct competitors to ensure that EssilorLuxottica is always at the forefront. you will facilitate the coordination and integration of medical and clinical data with other knowledge in the company, providing clinical support for the company's products and services to internal and external stakeholders. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES: Medical and Professional Affairs Strategy development in line with Local Marketing and Business Strategy External experts engagement Management Advisory Board & Steering Committee Organization Compliant with medical & regulatory up to date medical content creation and communication Medical Team Management NETWORK OF INTERACTION: INTERNAL : Medical, Sales and Marketing Teams, Leonardo Team EXTERNAL : Eye Care practitioners (Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Opticians, Orthoptists); Professional and Scientific Associations, Academia, Ministry of Health You will be the connection point between the medical scientific community and EssilorLuxottica; you will be the contact person who maintains internal company connections between the business area in its sales and marketing dimensions and the medical activity, as well as between the market branch and the global teams. You will work closely with the Business Brand Management team and the Professional Business Team to develop and implement the action plan. Strong functional interconnection with the Professional Business Manager to ensure synergy of action with the policy plan for opticians and optometrists, in compliance with the balance between the two professional categories in the Italian market. TECHNICAL SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE Bachelor / Master degree in Optics /Optometry/ Vison Science, Business Administration is a plus, At least 10 years experience in medical sectors Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experienced in team management Experienced in reviewing the medical materials, literatures. Proficiency in MS office applications LANGUAGES: German mother tongue English : Fluent in speaking and writing. Ability to understand technical and clinical papers, documents and materials in English is a must. THE SOFT SKILLS THAT ARE CRITICAL FOR BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION ARE: Strong leadership and management skills Business acumen Strong Verbal and Written Communication skills Results-oriented with ability to prioritize Managing in a changing and, often, fast-paced environment Strong analytical skills and problem solving orientation Active listening skills, ability to convince and empathic intelligence in reading interlocutors Mastery of basic IT tools is essential (Pack Office, Web, etc.). High degree of availability (travel, visits, evenings, conferences, etc.). even on weekends
